Greater London National Park City Campaign
Much of our work at the moment is based in London, and we are currently exploring ways of contributing to this fascinating and extremely worthwhile project: The Greater London National Park City Initiative. You can read more about it here. Launched by guerrilla geographer and National Geographic Emerging Explorer Daniel Raven-Ellison, it’s a brilliant idea which is rapidly gaining ground in London. The concept is simple: to take the spirit and philosophy behind the National Park movement and apply it to an urban space like London. It’s not about introducing laws or rules, it’s about encouraging both citizens and representatives in London to consider the natural environment and to place it higher up our mutual list of priorities. At a time when London has more construction work than it has seen for decades, and with the dubious introduction in more and more areas of privately run public spaces, there is a real need to back ideas like this which remind us that we are all parts of a living landscape.
We’re looking at ways of contributing to the Initiative, and hope to have more to report soon.
